About Racing Point
Racing Point was the identity adopted by the Silverstone team for 2019 after a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll rescued the former Force India from administration. The team continued the same midfield-leading tradition while Stroll invested in its future.
The high point came in 2020 with the RP20, a car so closely modelled on the previous year's championship-winning Mercedes that it earned the nickname 'pink Mercedes'. The pace was genuine: Sergio Pérez won the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, the team's first victory, and Lance Stroll took pole in Turkey.
For 2021 the team was rebranded once more, this time as Aston Martin, as Stroll set about transforming it into a manufacturer-backed works operation.
Key Achievements
- Grand Prix victory at the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix with Sergio Pérez
- Pole position for Lance Stroll in Turkey 2020

- Stabilised and rebuilt the former Force India team
- Transitioned directly into the Aston Martin works team
Legacy & Identity
Racing Point was a brief but pivotal staging post, the moment new investment turned a financially troubled midfield team towards manufacturer ambition. Its surprise win and competitive car proved the operation's quality, setting the stage for its rebirth as Aston Martin.
