About Spyker

Spyker was a one-season Formula 1 team, racing in 2007 under the name of the Dutch luxury sports-car maker that had bought the former Midland operation, itself the descendant of the Jordan team based at Silverstone.

Running in distinctive orange, the team competed at the back of the grid but scored a single, memorable championship point when Adrian Sutil finished eighth in a chaotic, rain-hit 2007 Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji, a precious reward for the small squad.

At the end of 2007 the team was bought by Vijay Mallya and rebranded as Force India, beginning a far more successful chapter in the same Silverstone team's long history.

Key Achievements

  • Scored a point with Sutil's eighth place at Japan 2007
  • Raced in distinctive Dutch orange
  • Continuation of the Jordan/Midland Silverstone lineage
  • Carried the Spyker luxury sports-car name
  • Became the foundation of Force India

Legacy & Identity

Spyker's single season was a brief staging post in the long story of the Silverstone team, but its surprise point at Fuji gave it a happy memory. It served as the bridge between the Midland era and the far more successful Force India that followed.
