About Adrian Sutil

Adrian Sutil, a German driver born in 1983, competed in Formula 1 between 2007 and 2014, making 128 World Championship starts and scoring 124 career points. He debuted at twenty-four with Spyker, taking a single point in his rookie year, and stayed with the team as it became Force India in 2008.

Force India's steady improvement carried his career upward. After a pointless 2008 and five points in 2009, he broke through with forty-seven points and eleventh in the championship in 2010, then went one better in 2011, finishing ninth in the drivers' standings with forty-two points, the best championship position of his career. Along the way he also set a fastest lap.

He was absent from the grid in 2012 before returning to Force India in 2013, scoring twenty-nine points for thirteenth in the championship. A final move to Sauber for 2014 proved fruitless, with no points in a difficult car, and that season closed his Formula 1 career.

Sutil's record, seven seasons of racing, three different team identities and a points tally almost exactly matching his number of starts, is that of a dependable midfield scorer whose peak years coincided with Force India's rise.
