Mauro Baldi

Mauro Baldi, an Italian driver born in 1954, competed in Formula 1 from 1982 to 1985, making 36 starts for three teams. He debuted with Arrows, moved to Alfa Romeo for 1983, and spent his final two seasons with the small Spirit operation.

His two scoring seasons came early. He took two points with Arrows in 1982 and three more with Alfa Romeo in 1983, when he achieved his best championship classification of sixteenth. Under the scoring system of the time, both tallies reflected top-six race finishes.

The switch to Spirit for 1984 effectively ended his run of results: neither that season nor his brief 1985 involvement with the same team produced points, and his Formula 1 record closed with five points from four seasons.

A career that began in the midfield and finished with one of the grid's smallest teams, Baldi's four years in the championship trace a familiar 1980s trajectory through the sport's crowded entry lists.
