About Éric Bernard

Éric Bernard, a French driver born in 1964, made forty-five Formula 1 starts across four seasons between 1989 and 1994. He began with Larrousse in 1989, at around 24 years of age, and spent three consecutive seasons with the French team.

His 1990 campaign was his most productive with Larrousse: five points and thirteenth in the Drivers' Championship, which stood as his best final classification. He added a further point in 1991 before his time with the team ended.

After two years away from the championship, Bernard returned in 1994 with Ligier. That season brought the highlight of his career — his only podium finish — along with four points and eighteenth in the standings.

His final record of ten points and one podium from forty-five starts was accumulated entirely with French-connected teams, Larrousse and Ligier, and his comeback podium after a two-season absence remains the most distinctive feature of his career.
