Lola

Lola Cars, founded by Eric Broadley, was one of the most prolific racing-car manufacturers in the world, building machines for countless categories over many decades. Its relationship with Formula 1 was long but intermittent, supplying chassis to various teams and occasionally entering under its own name.

Lola-built cars appeared in Formula 1 across several eras, sometimes with works backing and sometimes as customer machines for other entrants, scoring points and the odd strong result without ever becoming a sustained front-runner. The marque's true strength lay in the breadth and quality of its production across the motorsport world.

A final, hurried attempt to run a full works Formula 1 team collapsed almost immediately in 1997, an unhappy footnote to an otherwise distinguished racing-car business.

Lola's Formula 1 appearances were just one facet of a vast and respected racing-car manufacturing business. While it never conquered Grand Prix racing, its engineering output across motorsport was immense, and the Lola name remains one of the most widely raced in the history of the sport.
