Yves Cabantous

Yves Cabantous, a French driver born in 1904, was one of the veterans of the World Championship's founding years, making his debut in the inaugural 1950 season at the age of forty-five and going on to start thirteen Grands Prix across four seasons.

His first two years were spent with Talbot-Lago, and they produced all five of his championship points: three points and fourteenth in the standings in 1950, followed by two points and eighteenth place in 1951. Under the scoring system of the day, which rewarded only the top five finishers, those were solid results for the French marque.

For 1952 and 1953 he switched to HWM, but the British team's machinery brought no further points and his championship career ended after the 1953 season.

Cabantous's record — points in each of his first two seasons, four campaigns completed while approaching fifty — makes him a distinctive figure among the drivers who bridged pre-war racing and the new World Championship.
