About Jimmy Davies

Jimmy Davies, an American driver born in 1929, recorded six World Championship starts between 1950 and 1955, all at the Indianapolis 500, which formed part of the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960. He first appeared in 1950 at the age of just twenty, driving a Ewing, and returned in 1951 with a Pawl chassis.

From 1953 Davies raced Kurtis Kraft machinery, and it was in one of these cars that he achieved his breakthrough in 1955: a podium finish worth four points, which classified him twelfth in that year's World Championship standings.

That 1955 result accounted for his entire points total and proved to be his final championship appearance, capping a six-start career that had begun with four scoreless outings before ending on its strongest note.
