Duncan Hamilton

Duncan Hamilton, a British driver born in 1920, made five World Championship Grand Prix starts between 1951 and 1953, in the early years of the World Championship. He debuted in 1951 at the age of thirty-one, driving a Talbot-Lago.

For 1952 and 1953 he switched to HWM, the small British team that gave several drivers of the period their Grand Prix opportunities. Neither the French nor the British machinery carried him into the points during his three consecutive seasons of championship racing.

Hamilton's championship record closed after 1953: five starts across three seasons, without points, in an era when privateer and small-constructor entries filled much of every Grand Prix grid and results depended heavily on the equipment available.
