About Ed Elisian
Ed Elisian, an American driver born in 1926, made five World Championship starts between 1954 and 1958, all at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship throughout the 1950s. His first appearance came in 1954 in a Stevens chassis, at the age of twenty-seven.
From 1955 to 1957 he qualified for three consecutive runnings of the 500 in Kurtis Kraft machinery, before switching to a Watson for his final championship appearance in 1958.
None of his five starts produced championship points, but five qualifications in five straight years at the Speedway represented a durable presence in one of the most fiercely contested entry lists in motor racing.
