About Johnny Servoz-Gavin

Johnny Servoz-Gavin, a French driver born in 1942, took part in the Formula 1 World Championship between 1967 and 1970, accumulating eleven Grand Prix starts over four seasons. He spent most of that time associated with Matra, the French constructor, before a final year with March.

After a pointless first appearance in 1967, his most productive season came in 1968 with Matra-Ford, when six points and a podium-caliber campaign lifted him to fourteenth in the World Championship — his best final classification. He remains credited with one podium finish and nine career points.

The 1969 season brought a single point and eighteenth place in the standings, still with Matra-Ford. For 1970 he moved to March, adding two more points to finish twenty-first in the championship in what proved to be his last year of Grand Prix racing.

Servoz-Gavin's career was brief but not anonymous: in an era when only the top six finishers scored, he reached the points in three consecutive seasons with two different constructors before leaving the World Championship scene at the end of 1970, still in his twenties.
