The 1968 Season

Graham Hill won his second world championship for Lotus in a season of profound change and tragedy. In April, the great Jim Clark was killed in a Formula Two race at Hockenheim, a loss that stunned the sport, and Hill rallied the grieving Lotus team to victory in his memory.

The year saw two technical and commercial revolutions: the first aerodynamic wings appeared on cars, and Lotus debuted full sponsorship liveries with its Gold Leaf colours, ending the era of national racing colours. Hill clinched the title at the rain-soaked Mexican Grand Prix finale, and Lotus took the Constructors' Championship.
