About Nicola Larini

Nicola Larini, an Italian driver born in 1964, had one of the more scattered Formula 1 careers of his generation, making 50 starts for six different teams between 1987 and 1997.

He came into the sport with Coloni in 1987, then spent 1988 and 1989 with Osella, followed by a season at Ligier in 1990 and one with Lambo in 1991. All were struggling operations, and no points came from those five years. A first stint with Ferrari in 1992 likewise went unrewarded.

After sitting out 1993, Larini returned with Ferrari in 1994 and produced his best season: six points and fourteenth in the championship, a year that also encompassed the only podium finish of his career. Another absence followed in 1995 and 1996 before a final campaign with Sauber in 1997 brought one more point and nineteenth in the standings.

His record of seven points from 50 starts understates a career spent largely in uncompetitive machinery, punctuated by brief opportunities with front-running teams.
