Paul Pietsch

Paul Pietsch, a German driver born in 1911, took part in the World Championship during its earliest years, making three starts between 1950 and 1952. Already in his late thirties when the championship began, he sampled machinery from three different constructors in three consecutive seasons: a Maserati in 1950, an Alfa Romeo in 1951 and a Veritas in 1952.

None of those outings yielded championship points, and Pietsch was never classified in the final standings. His brief record nonetheless spans an interesting cross-section of early-1950s equipment, from the dominant Alfa Romeo marque to the small German Veritas concern. His involvement at World Championship level ended after the 1952 season, leaving a short but varied entry in the sport's opening chapter.
