About Eliseo Salazar

Eliseo Salazar is a Chilean driver who made twenty-four World Championship starts between 1981 and 1983, one of very few drivers from Chile to compete in Formula 1. He debuted at twenty-six with March in 1981 and marked his first season with a championship point, finishing twenty-first in the standings.

He moved to ATS for 1982 and improved his tally to two points, taking twenty-third in the championship — points finishes that, under the top-six scoring system of the era, represented solid returns from midfield machinery. His record also includes time with Ensign among the four teams he was associated with.

A final season with the small RAM operation in 1983 brought no points, and his Formula 1 career closed with three points from three seasons. Scoring in each of his first two campaigns while moving between minor teams remains the most creditable feature of his Grand Prix record.
