Chuck Stevenson

Chuck Stevenson, an American driver born in 1919, is credited with seven Formula 1 World Championship starts between 1951 and 1960. All of his appearances came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the F1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960, so his championship record was built entirely on the famous American oval.

He drove for a succession of American chassis builders: a Marchese in 1951, Kurtis Kraft cars in 1952 and 1953, a Kuzma in 1954 and, after a gap of several seasons, a Watson in 1960.

None of those entries brought World Championship points, and Stevenson was never classified in the drivers' standings, but his five championship-counting Indianapolis appearances across a decade place him firmly among the American oval racers who populate the record books of Formula 1's first era.
