About Force India

Force India was the Indian-owned identity of the Silverstone-based team previously known as Jordan, Midland and Spyker. Bought by businessman Vijay Mallya in 2007 and rebranded for 2008, the team became one of the most impressive overachievers of its era.

Operating on a far smaller budget than the leading manufacturers, Force India consistently punched above its weight, regularly finishing in the top half of the constructors' standings and scoring podiums with drivers such as Giancarlo Fisichella, Sergio Pérez and Esteban Ocon. Its engineering efficiency was widely admired throughout the paddock.

Financial and legal difficulties surrounding its owner led to the team being placed into administration in 2018 and rescued by a consortium, after which it was rebranded as Racing Point.

Key Achievements

  • Multiple podium finishes and a pole position (Spa 2009)
  • Consistently the leading midfield team on a modest budget
  • Best-of-the-rest constructors' finishes in the late 2010s
  • Renowned for engineering and financial efficiency
  • Part of the long Silverstone team lineage

Legacy & Identity

Force India became a byword for efficiency, repeatedly beating teams with far greater resources through clever engineering and sharp operation. Its overachieving spirit made it a paddock favourite, and the team it built continues today, having evolved into Racing Point and then Aston Martin.
