Ottorino Volonterio

Ottorino Volonterio, a Swiss driver born in 1917, made three World Championship starts spread across the mid-1950s, appearing in 1954, 1956 and 1957. Each of his entries came at the wheel of a Maserati, and he was already in his late thirties by the time of his first start.

His was an occasional presence rather than a sustained campaign: one start in each of his three seasons, none of them yielding points or a classified championship position. That pattern was common among the private Maserati runners of the period, who entered selected Grands Prix against the factory teams. Volonterio's Formula 1 record closed with three starts, no points, and a career that spanned four calendar years despite its brevity.
