Richard Attwood

Richard Attwood, a British driver born in 1940, made 17 World Championship starts between 1964 and 1969, scoring eleven points and one podium finish. His career took in four different teams: he began with BRM in 1964, drove a Lotus-BRM in 1965, appeared for Cooper-Maserati in 1967, and split his final two seasons between BRM and Lotus-Ford.

His first points came in 1965, with two for sixteenth in the championship. His strongest year was 1968, back at BRM, when six points brought him thirteenth in the standings, a classification he matched in 1969 with Lotus-Ford.

The podium finish in his record stands out for a driver who never had more than intermittent opportunities, and in the 1960s scoring system, where only the top six finishers earned points, his three points-scoring seasons from a part-time career represent a solid return.
