About BRM
British Racing Motors was a pioneering and patriotic project, conceived after the Second World War to give Britain a world-beating Grand Prix car. Based at Bourne in Lincolnshire, BRM endured a famously troubled early period, including a complex and unreliable V16 engine, before maturing into a championship-winning team.
BRM's crowning achievement came in 1962, when Graham Hill won the drivers' championship and the team took the constructors' title. Through the 1960s BRM was a regular front-runner and also supplied engines to other teams, including the H16 unit that powered a Lotus to victory.
The team gradually lost competitiveness into the 1970s and faded from the grid by 1977, but its place as one of the founding pillars of British motorsport endured.
