Rubens Barrichello

Rubens Barrichello was a Brazilian racing driver born on 23 May 1972, and for many years the holder of the record for the most Grand Prix starts in Formula 1 history. An eleven-time race winner, he enjoyed one of the longest careers the sport has seen, spanning nearly two decades.

Barrichello began his F1 career with Jordan in 1993 before driving for Stewart, where he scored the team's first podiums. In 2000 he joined Ferrari as team-mate to Michael Schumacher, taking his maiden win at the 2000 German Grand Prix and finishing championship runner-up in 2002 and 2004. He later starred for Honda and the title-winning Brawn GP team in 2009 before closing his career with Williams. He retired holding 11 wins, 68 podiums, 14 poles and 658 points from a then-record 326 starts.

A consummate professional and supremely consistent performer, Barrichello combined longevity with genuine front-running pace, particularly during his Ferrari and Brawn years. Hugely popular for his warmth and durability, he remains one of the most enduring and well-liked figures in Formula 1 history.
