About Bob Gerard

Bob Gerard, a British driver born in 1914, made seven World Championship starts spread across six seasons between 1950 and 1957 — an unusually long span for so few appearances. Already in his late thirties when the championship began, he was among the drivers who bridged pre-war racing and the new World Championship era.

His first two seasons, 1950 and 1951, were contested in an ERA, a design with roots in the 1930s. From 1953 he switched to Cooper machinery, making occasional appearances in 1953, 1954, 1956 and 1957, typically limited to one start per year.

None of his seven outings produced championship points, and he was never classified in the final standings — a fate common to British privateers of the early 1950s running their own equipment against the factory teams.
