Gijs van Lennep

Gijs van Lennep, a Dutch driver born in 1942, made eight Formula 1 starts spread across four seasons between 1971 and 1975, and managed the rare feat for an occasional driver of scoring in two of them.

He first appeared with Surtees in 1971, then drove for Iso Marlboro in 1973 and 1974, taking a championship point in 1973 that placed him twentieth in the standings. A final season with Ensign in 1975 brought another point and another twentieth place.

Two points from eight starts, earned with two different small teams under a system that paid only the top six finishers, made his brief and intermittent World Championship career a quietly efficient one.
