Jack McGrath

Jack McGrath was an American driver whose six World Championship starts, spread across every season from 1950 to 1955, all came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship between 1950 and 1960. Born in 1919, he was about thirty when the championship era began, and he drove Kurtis Kraft machinery throughout.

McGrath's record stands out among the Indianapolis contingent of the period: two podium finishes, a pole position, and nine championship points from just six starts. He scored in three separate seasons, taking two points in both 1951 and 1953 before his best campaign in 1954, when five points left him twelfth in the final standings.

That consistency across six consecutive seasons made McGrath one of the more successful American entrants of the championship's first decade, even though an outright victory eluded him.
