Peter Whitehead

Peter Whitehead was a British driver born in 1914 who took part in the first five seasons of the Formula 1 World Championship, making eleven starts between 1950 and 1954. He began with Ferrari machinery, and his opening season was comfortably his best: four points, a podium finish and ninth place in the 1950 World Championship.

That 1950 campaign accounted for his entire points haul. A points-paying finish under the early scoring system, which rewarded only the top five, was a genuinely strong result, and his podium that year stands as the highlight of his record.

He continued with Ferrari in 1951 before switching to an Alta in 1952 and then to Cooper machinery for 1953 and 1954, but none of those later seasons produced points or a classified championship position.

Whitehead's career closed after 1954 with one podium and four points from eleven starts, his name attached above all to the championship's inaugural season.
