Alex Caffi

Alex Caffi, an Italian driver born in 1964, competed in Formula 1 from 1986 to 1991, making 56 Grand Prix starts across six consecutive seasons for four teams. He entered the championship at twenty-two with the small Osella outfit.

Two point-less years with Osella were followed by a move to Dallara, where his 1989 season brought a breakthrough: four points and nineteenth place in the drivers' championship, comfortably his best points tally.

He joined Arrows for 1990 and added two further points, achieving his highest championship classification of sixteenth. A final season with the team, by then renamed Footwork, followed in 1991 but brought no additional points.

Caffi's career total of six points from 56 starts reflects the machinery available to him — a succession of small Italian and midfield teams during an era when only the top six finishers scored — with his 1989 and 1990 campaigns standing out as the productive heart of his six years in the championship.
