Christian Danner

Christian Danner, a German driver born in 1958, made thirty-seven Formula 1 starts between 1985 and 1989, scoring four World Championship points. He entered Grand Prix racing at twenty-seven with the small German Zakspeed team, for whom he drove in his debut season of 1985.

For 1986 Danner switched to Osella, and there he scored his first championship point, a result that classified him eighteenth in the drivers' standings — no small feat given the modest Italian team's resources. He returned to Zakspeed for 1987, but that reunion produced no further points.

After sitting out the 1988 season, Danner came back in 1989 with Rial, another German constructor, and enjoyed his most productive campaign: three points, which placed him twenty-second in the championship and accounted for the majority of his career total. His list of teams also included Arrows.

Danner's four seasons of racing were spent entirely with back-of-the-grid outfits, and his handful of points finishes — earned under a system that rewarded only the top six — stand as the highlights of a career fought out far from the front of the field.
