Eddie Johnson

Eddie Johnson, an American driver born in 1919, is credited with nine World Championship starts between 1952 and 1960. All of his appearances came at the Indianapolis 500, which counted toward the Formula 1 World Championship from 1950 to 1960.

Over those nine consecutive years he drove a variety of American oval-racing chassis, including Trevis, Kurtis Kraft, Pawl and Kuzma machinery. His persistence was finally rewarded in 1960, the last year Indianapolis formed part of the championship, when he scored a single point and was classified twenty-sixth in the drivers' standings.

Nine starts spread across the entire span of the Indianapolis 500's World Championship years make Johnson one of the more regular American names in the records of Formula 1's first decade, and his 1960 point gave the long campaign a tangible result at its very end.
