Peter de Klerk

Peter de Klerk, a South African driver born in 1935, made four World Championship starts spread across eight years, appearing in 1963, 1965, 1969 and 1970. His first two outings came in an Alfa Romeo, his later two in Brabham machinery.

The widely spaced pattern of his career, a single start every few seasons, reflects a driver who entered the championship only occasionally rather than campaigning full seasons. None of his four appearances brought points.

His last start came in 1970, at the age of thirty-five, closing a Formula 1 record notable more for its longevity between first and final appearances than for its volume.
