Carlos Sainz

Carlos Sainz is a Spanish racing driver and the son of two-time World Rally Champion Carlos Sainz Sr. Born in Madrid in 1994, he won the Formula Renault 3.5 title in 2014 and graduated to Formula 1 with Toro Rosso in 2015. Over the following seasons he built a reputation as a consistent points-scorer and shrewd racer with Toro Rosso, Renault and McLaren, steadily climbing the order with each move.

His career reached its peak at Ferrari, which he joined in 2021. Across four seasons in red he took four Grand Prix victories, including a memorable maiden win at Silverstone in 2022 and a standout drive in Singapore in 2023 that ended Red Bull's winning streak that year. With 29 podiums to his name, he established himself as one of the grid's most reliable front-runners before Ferrari opted to sign Lewis Hamilton.

For 2026 Sainz is in his second season with Williams alongside Alex Albon, leading the team's push up the grid. After nine rounds he sits 15th in the standings on 6 points as Williams continue their rebuild, with Sainz's experience central to their longer-term ambitions.

Sainz is a thinking driver known for his strong race pace, sharp strategic awareness and excellent tyre management, often delivering his best work on Sundays. Methodical and consistent, he has proven a tough team-mate and a dependable points-scorer wherever he has raced. His move to Williams reflects a long-term project to help return a historic team to the front.
