About Jos Verstappen

Jos Verstappen, a Dutch driver born in 1972, competed in Formula 1 between 1994 and 2003, making 107 starts for seven different teams. His debut season with Benetton in 1994 proved the strongest of his career: he took both of his podium finishes that year, scoring ten points for tenth in the World Championship.

The years that followed were spent largely with struggling outfits. He drove for Simtek in 1995, scored a point for Footwork in 1996, then had pointless seasons with Tyrrell in 1997 and Stewart in 1998 before dropping off the grid for a year.

Verstappen returned with Arrows in 2000, delivering five points and twelfth in the standings, his best championship finish since his rookie year, and added another point in 2001. After a second year away he made a final comeback with Minardi in 2003.

His career total of seventeen points and two podiums, both earned in his very first season, tells the story of a driver whose machinery rarely matched his early promise; ten years, seven teams and two separate absences from the grid made his one of the more nomadic careers of the era.
