Umberto Maglioli

Umberto Maglioli, an Italian driver born in 1928, made ten World Championship starts between 1953 and 1957, driving for three of the great names of the era: Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche.

His first three seasons were spent with Ferrari. After a pointless debut year in 1953, he scored in each of the next two: two points in 1954, for eighteenth in the championship, and a further points haul in 1955 that left him twenty-first in the standings. Both of his two career podium finishes came during this productive mid-decade spell.

He moved to Maserati for 1956 and ended his championship career with Porsche in 1957, adding no further points in either season. Maglioli's final record — ten starts, two podiums and three points, all with front-rank Italian and German constructors — reflects a driver who was trusted with good machinery across a five-season span.
