About Carlos Menditeguy

Carlos Menditeguy, an Argentine driver born in 1914, competed in the Formula 1 World Championship between 1953 and 1960, making twelve starts across seven seasons. His career unfolded almost entirely with Italian and French machinery: a Gordini in his debut year, Maserati from 1954 to 1958, and finally a Cooper-Maserati.

Menditeguy scored in three of his seasons. His first points came in 1955, when two points left him nineteenth in the standings, and his best campaign followed in 1957, with four points and fifteenth place overall. That period also brought his single podium finish, the highlight of a nine-point career.

After a pointless 1958 season with Maserati, he sat out 1959 before returning for one final year in 1960, taking three points in a Cooper-Maserati to close his championship account.

Twelve starts spread over eight calendar years suggest a driver who contested Formula 1 selectively rather than season-long, a common pattern for South American racers of the 1950s, yet he still managed points in a quarter of his starts.
