About Hans-Joachim Stuck

Hans-Joachim Stuck, a German driver born in 1951, competed in Formula 1 from 1974 to 1979, making seventy-seven World Championship starts across six consecutive seasons. He debuted at twenty-three with March and scored five points as a rookie, finishing sixteenth in the championship.

March remained his home for four seasons. After a pointless 1975 he took eight points in 1976, and in 1977 he produced his best campaign, scoring twelve points and finishing eleventh in the drivers' standings; his career team list also includes Brabham machinery in that period. His two podium finishes stand as the peak results of his Grand Prix record.

The final phase of his career was less rewarding. He moved to Shadow for 1978, scoring two points for eighteenth in the championship, and closed his Formula 1 days with ATS in 1979, again with two points, classified nineteenth.

Across six seasons Stuck accumulated twenty-nine points and two podiums, a record built in midfield machinery and scored in five of his six years, remarkable consistency given that points then extended only to sixth place.
