Fernando Alonso

Fernando Alonso is a Spanish racing driver and two-time Formula 1 World Champion, one of the most experienced and respected competitors in the sport's history. Born in Oviedo in 1981, he reached F1 with Minardi in 2001 before joining Renault, with whom he became the sport's then-youngest champion in 2005 and successfully defended the title in 2006, ending Ferrari and Michael Schumacher's period of dominance.

Across a remarkable career spanning more than two decades, Alonso has raced for Minardi, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari, Alpine and Aston Martin, amassing 32 wins and 106 podiums from 435 starts. He came painfully close to further titles with Ferrari in 2010 and 2012, finishing runner-up both times, and has remained a benchmark for racecraft long after his championship years, returning to the podium with Aston Martin in 2023.

In 2026 Alonso continues with Aston Martin alongside Lance Stroll. The early rounds have been challenging, with the veteran sitting 18th in the standings on a single point as the team works to find competitiveness, though his hunger and commitment remain undimmed deep into a legendary career.
