Dave Charlton

Dave Charlton, a South African driver born in 1936, made eleven World Championship starts spread across eight seasons between 1967 and 1975 — an average of barely more than one appearance per year, the pattern of a driver contesting occasional rounds rather than full campaigns.

He first appeared in 1967 in a Brabham-Climax and returned in 1968 with Brabham-Repco machinery. After missing 1969, he raced Team Lotus equipment in 1970, a Brabham in 1971, and Lotus cars again in 1972 and 1973.

His final two seasons, 1974 and 1975, were spent in McLaren machinery. Across the entire nine-year span he never scored a championship point and was never classified in the standings.
