Jack Fairman

Jack Fairman was a British driver whose Formula 1 career was defined by persistence rather than continuity. Born in 1913, he made thirteen World Championship starts spread across eight seasons between 1953 and 1961, never contesting anything close to a full campaign.

Few drivers of the era raced for as varied a collection of entrants. Fairman's record includes appearances with HWM, Connaught, BRM, Cooper in several engine configurations, and finally Ferguson, reflecting the freelance nature of his top-level racing.

His reward came in 1956, when he scored five points for Connaught and was classified tenth in the drivers' championship — the only points-scoring season of his career, and a solid return under the scoring system of the day.

Fairman's last championship appearance came with Ferguson in 1961, closing a top-level record of thirteen starts, five points, and no wins, podiums or poles, accumulated in occasional outings across nearly a decade of the championship's formative years.
