Paul Frère

Paul Frère, a Belgian driver born in 1917, made eleven World Championship starts across five seasons between 1952 and 1956, averaging out at just over two Grands Prix a year — a part-time career, but a consistently effective one.

He debuted with HWM in 1952 and scored two points immediately, taking eighteenth in the championship. After a pointless 1953 with the same team and a 1954 season with Gordini, his career stepped up when Ferrari signed him.

The Ferrari years brought his best results: three points and fifteenth place in 1955, then six points, a podium finish and eighth in the drivers' championship in 1956, which proved to be his final season. His record also includes Simca machinery among the teams he drove.

Frère retired from championship racing with eleven points from eleven starts — a point per start, achieved across four different teams, with his single podium and a top-eight championship placing as the highlights of a compact 1950s career.
