About Robert Manzon

Robert Manzon, a French driver born in 1917, was part of the World Championship from its inaugural season, competing from 1950 to 1956 and making 29 starts for Simca, Gordini and Ferrari.

He opened his account immediately, scoring three points for Simca in 1950 to finish sixteenth in the first-ever championship. His finest year came in 1952 with Gordini: nine points and sixth place in the World Championship, comfortably his best standing, in a season that also encompassed podium finishes among his two career rostrum appearances.

A season with Ferrari in 1954 brought four more points and fifteenth in the standings, before he returned to Gordini for his final two campaigns in 1955 and 1956, which passed without further scores.

Manzon closed his championship account with 16 points and two podiums from seven seasons, having scored in four different years and with three different teams — a record of consistency across the whole of the championship's first decade.
