Rodger Ward

Rodger Ward was an American driver born in 1921 whose World Championship career stretched from 1951 to 1963, taking in eleven seasons and twelve starts. For a decade from 1951 he appeared annually in American machinery, driving for a succession of constructors including Bromme, Kurtis Kraft, Pawl, Kuzma, Lesovsky and Watson.

For eight seasons his championship entries brought no points, but the switch to Watson machinery in 1959 transformed his record: he won that year, scoring eight points and finishing tenth in the World Championship. He added six more points with Watson in 1960 to place fourteenth in the standings, making those two years the productive core of his career.

After a gap of more than two seasons, Ward returned for a final appearance in 1963 at the wheel of a Lotus-BRM, a departure from the American chassis that had carried all of his earlier entries. That outing brought no points and closed his championship career.

His final tally stood at one win and two podiums from twelve starts, with fourteen points gathered entirely in the 1959 and 1960 seasons.
