Peter Collins

Peter Collins was a British driver who competed in the Formula 1 World Championship from 1952 to 1958, making 36 starts and winning three Grands Prix. He was only 20 when he debuted with HWM in 1952.

His early seasons brought no points: two years with HWM, a 1954 campaign with Vanwall and a 1955 season in a Maserati all passed without a score. The breakthrough came with his move to Ferrari in 1956, when he won twice, amassed 25 points and finished third in the drivers' championship — the best classification of his career.

He remained at Ferrari for the rest of his time in the sport, taking eight points in 1957 and then a third victory in 1958, a season in which he placed fifth in the championship with fourteen points. That 1958 campaign was his last.

Collins ended his career with three wins, nine podiums and 47 points, all of his scoring achieved in Ferrari machinery across three seasons in the late 1950s.
