Dan Gurney

Dan Gurney, an American driver born in 1931, was one of the most prominent competitors of Formula 1's 1960s era, taking four wins, nineteen podiums and three pole positions across eighty-seven starts between 1959 and 1970.

Gurney debuted with Ferrari in 1959, scoring thirteen points and finishing seventh in the championship in his first season. After a pointless year with BRM in 1960 he joined Porsche, where he finished fourth overall in 1961 and took his first Grand Prix victory in 1962. A move to Brabham followed, and he stayed through 1965, twice winning in 1964 and matching his career-best fourth place in the championship in 1965 with twenty-five points.

From 1966 he raced Eagle chassis, first with Climax and then Weslake power, and in 1967 he added a fourth and final victory. His last points came in 1970 with McLaren-Ford, closing a career that spanned twelve seasons.

With 133 points, top-four championship finishes in two seasons, and victories for three different constructors, Gurney's record marks him as one of the leading American drivers in World Championship history.
