Jackie Oliver

Jackie Oliver was a British driver, born in 1942, who competed in Formula 1 between 1967 and 1977, accumulating 51 starts, two podium finishes and 13 championship points.

Oliver's career took in a notable variety of teams. He began with Lotus-Ford, scoring six points in 1968 to place fifteenth in the championship — his best final position — before moving to BRM for 1969 and 1970, where he added further points in both years.

A season with McLaren in 1971 and a return to BRM in 1972 followed, before Oliver joined the new Shadow team for 1973 and scored four points to finish fourteenth in the standings. After a break of several years he reappeared for Shadow in 1977 for a final campaign.

Across a decade in the sport Oliver drove for five different team entries and reached the podium twice, though a Grand Prix victory eluded him. His career pattern — regular team changes and a late one-off return — was characteristic of the fluid driver market of the late 1960s and 1970s.
