Mercedes-Benz holds a unique place in Grand Prix history. The German marque dominated the very first years of organised motor racing, returned to win in 1954 and 1955 with the legendary W196 and Juan Manuel Fangio, then withdrew after the 1955 Le Mans disaster. It would be more than half a century before Mercedes returned as a full works team.

That comeback, completed when the squad took over the championship-winning Brawn operation for 2010, produced the most dominant period in the sport's history. From 2014 to 2020, powered by a masterful interpretation of the new hybrid power-unit regulations, Mercedes won seven consecutive drivers' and constructors' championships.
