Circuit Park Zandvoort

Circuit Zandvoort lies among the North Sea sand dunes on the Dutch coast, a fast, old-school track that first hosted the Dutch Grand Prix in 1952. It became a calendar regular through the 1960s, 70s and 80s, a classic period in which Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Niki Lauda and many other greats took victory in the dunes before the race fell away after 1985.

For decades the Dutch Grand Prix was a fond memory, until the rise of Max Verstappen sparked a surge of national enthusiasm that brought Formula 1 roaring back to Zandvoort in 2021. The track was modernised and, crucially, given dramatic banking to suit contemporary cars, and the returning race was an instant sell-out awash in orange-clad fans.

The reborn event could hardly have scripted a better start: Verstappen won the first three Dutch Grands Prix of the new era in front of his home crowd. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have since added their names, but the modern Zandvoort remains synonymous with its passionate, partisan atmosphere.
